Serbian grammar tutors

Almost everyone who looks for this has hit the same wall at roughly the same point. The first weeks of Serbian go well: the sounds are regular, the spelling is honest, one letter is one sound, and you can read a street sign aloud correctly on day three. Then the endings start moving. The word for Belgrade is Beograd until you go to Beograd, and then it is Beograda or Beogradu depending on what you are doing, and the same happens to every noun, adjective and number in the sentence. Seven cases, and on top of them verbal aspect, which decides whether you read a book or read it through. This is where a phrasebook stops being useful, because the problem is not vocabulary you are missing but grammar the vocabulary keeps passing through. What actually fixes it is oral drilling, and that is a good reason to sit in a room with someone. Cases are learned the way multiplication tables were: someone says a phrase, you put it in the right case, they correct you inside a second, and you do it two hundred times until the ending arrives before you have thought about it. That exchange is fast and unglamorous and it is hard to sustain politely over a screen.
