Online maths tutoring for middle school
Somewhere around middle school, maths starts asking for something new. Arithmetic gives way to algebra, a letter stands in for a number, and a child who never worried about the subject begins calling it pointless. Video suits this stage well. The lesson is short, the evening is not broken up by a drive across town, and a shared whiteboard lets the tutor follow the working line by line instead of seeing a wrong answer and guessing where it went astray. Sessions cover fractions and ratios, equations and inequalities, the first geometry and the first proofs, and the exam at the end of the cycle. The tutors here are used to this age and do not mistake a bored child for a weak one. A free first lesson tells you whether they hold your child's attention, which at twelve is most of the battle.
