Online Serbian lessons

Almost nobody studies Serbian for an exam. The people who book it are a child in Chicago or Vienna whose parents want the language to survive one more generation, someone who married into a family and is tired of smiling through Sunday lunch, or a person who moved here for work and has discovered that the landlord, the counter at the municipal office and the neighbour on the stairs all need something different. The alphabet turns out to be the easy part, learned in a week. The cases are the wall, and they arrive early. Heritage speakers are their own category, because someone can sound fluent for two minutes and then fall into a hole no beginner would have, so a tutor used to them starts by finding where the hole is rather than at page one. Online is how any of this happens at all: there is no Serbian tutor down the road in most of the world. A free first lesson is normal.
