Physics tutors in Serbia

There is a quiet reason physics stays opaque to a lot of children, and it has nothing to do with ability. In a good many schools the experiments are done rarely or not at all, because there is no equipment, no time, or nobody to set them up. The material then arrives as a run of formulas and definitions, and the child duly learns them by heart. They can write the law down and cannot say what it describes. That holds up for a few tests, then falls apart the moment a question describes a situation they have never watched happen. Before you pay anybody, it is worth knowing that you do not need a person for the sight of it. There are more filmed demonstrations online than you could get through, free, and better than anything a classroom could set up. If the only gap is that your child has never seen how something behaves, an evening of well chosen clips may be the whole fix. What a recording cannot do is let you be wrong. Physics is not repaired by watching but by predicting. Somebody asks what will happen when the cart is released down the slope, you say, it is then done on the table, and it comes out otherwise. That collision between what you expected and what actually happened is the entire job, and it does not exist while you watch someone who already knows the answer. That is what an in person lesson is for, and it needs very little: a cart, a length of string, a magnet, a glass of water, and somebody who asks before they show. Serbia has considerably fewer physics tutors than maths or English tutors, and you feel it the moment you leave Belgrade and Novi Sad. The people here come from across the country, from Niš, Kragujevac, Subotica and smaller places, but be ready for your own town to offer one person rather than a choice. If there is nobody, a video call will cover the material; it will not cover what is described above. When you choose, ask what they bring to the lesson. Somebody who works this way has a bag of small things and will tell you at once what they would show for the topic that is giving you trouble. Somebody who answers that they have a problem book and a board is offering what school has already tried. The first lesson is usually free, so spend it on the worst topic rather than on introductions.
