Online interview practice in English

Your interview is almost certainly going to be a video call, which makes this the rare case where practising online is not a compromise but a rehearsal of the real thing. The medium has its own problems and they are worth an hour on their own. There is a delay of a second or two, so you both start speaking at once, and knowing to stop and hand it back rather than push through is a habit you can build. You get cut off mid sentence and have to resume without losing the thread. You cannot read the room: on a call you lose the small signals that tell you an answer landed, so you keep talking to fill a silence that was just someone taking a note. And looking into the camera rather than at the face on your screen feels wrong for about twenty minutes and then becomes automatic. Practising with a tutor on the same kind of call surfaces all of it, including whether your light is behind you and whether your first sentence is audible. Ask for the session at the same time of day as the real interview, and use the same room.
