The final exam at the end of Serbian primary school is the zavrsni ispit, also called the mala matura, and maths is one of its three papers. It is cumulative from the fifth grade, so preparation starts with mock papers and with whichever questions were missed, not with the current chapter. One difference from school tests is worth building a habit around. A class teacher knows the child and will often give partial credit for working that was started correctly; the final exam is marked to a set procedure, without a name attached, and only what is written down counts. Writing the method out in full, even when the answer is obvious, is the cheapest set of marks available.
