A1 English lessons for beginners

A1 is the first level of the Common European Framework: enough English to introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions about where you live and what you do, and follow someone speaking slowly and clearly. Lessons begin from nothing, with greetings, numbers, the present tense and the words for everyday situations, and most of the time goes on speaking rather than filling in exercises. A tutor matters more at this level than at any other, because early pronunciation habits are hard to undo later. Most learners reach A1 in something like 80 to 100 hours, depending on how close their own language is to English.
