I'm Kayal, an experienced Biomedical Scientist with specialising in neuroscience and I have been tutoring since 2018. According to me as a tutor, it’s important to manage both students' and parents' expectations from day one. With a little cooperation from all parties and some understanding, this can increasingly help improve a student’s learning over time. In my opinion, the first lesson with each student is crucial in laying the foundations for an ongoing relationship and setting the agenda for future sessions. Students are obviously looking to make great progress; however, they are also looking to enjoy learning and working with someone they like, so I try my best to make the process enjoyable. Introducing one topic at a time while also getting to know the students' interests are like stepping stones to building a mutual understanding. The approach taken may vary based on each student but the aim is to make them feel comfortable and to get them talking.
