Start with the part that costs nothing. For every standard first year topic, calculus, linear algebra, probability, there are complete lecture courses online, free, taught by people who have explained it a thousand times. If you have not been through those, do that before paying anybody. A tutor repeating a derivation you could have watched twice for nothing is the commonest way this money gets wasted. What no recording can do is look at your attempt. The video explains the idea to everybody at once and cannot see the line where your working went sideways, and that line is usually the whole problem: a sign lost two steps further up, a substitution made in the wrong order, a rule applied where it does not hold. Somebody has to read your page and say where the reasoning broke, and it is a short job, often twenty minutes. That shapes what you should be looking for here, and it is not a standing weekly hour. It is a small, irregular arrangement: a session when you are stuck on a problem sheet, nothing for a fortnight, then two in three days before an exam. Plenty of tutors will not work that way, so ask before booking rather than after. The other thing an online market gives you is somebody awake when you are, which matters for a subject that mostly gets done late at night.
