Online English lessons for beginners

The useful thing about learning English over video as a total beginner is that you can start with a native speaker on day one. In a town where nobody nearby speaks it, that is simply not available otherwise, and the beginning is when it counts most: the sounds you settle into during the first months are the ones you will still be making in five years, and they are far easier to shape now than to correct later. The chat box beside the call turns out to matter too. A beginner needs to see a word and hear it at the same moment, and typing it into the chat while saying it aloud is awkward to arrange in a room but takes a second on a screen. English also has more tutors online than any other language, which means that if the first person does not suit you, changing costs almost nothing. That is worth more than it sounds at the stage where giving up is easiest. First lesson usually free.
